The things of this world will never satisfy you

Written by Dewald Pretorius

The things of this world will never satisfy you. They will only leave you unimpressed and depressed. You will only ever find true satisfaction through the Father, Son and Spirit.

Marriage, work, money, status, cars, your dream physique none of these will fulfil you. You can only be complete through the undeserved grace and mercy of God. In this way, through means of full surrender and setting aside your own pride, God will do even greater things through you than He did with Christ. All this because you have access to the Spirit of God now and forever.

Even greater things than Christ? That is a very bold statement; however, you don’t have to take my word for it, here is what Jesus said: “Truly I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father” (Jn 14:12, CSB).

You already knew the things of this world never satisfy before you read this article though, didn’t you? What is the solution then; what can satisfy your thirst?

Drink from the living water!

As Christ said, He is the bread of life and those who come to Him will never hunger or thirst again (Jn 6:35).

We can take comfort in the fact that God has always been the true source of life and will continue to be so for all eternity. The authors of the Old Testament also knew this fact. One of my favourite examples can be found in the book of Isaiah.

“And the LORD will continually guide you, And satisfy your soul in scorched and dry places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail” (Is 58:11, AMP).

So, the take-aways are:
• Nothing in this world will ever satisfy you
• You will only ever be truly satisfied through the Father, Christ, and the Spirit
• Lay down your pride and fully surrender to God’s will
• You will be able to do even greater things than Christ
